Homemade Apple Pie Recipe

  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8

This is an easy, classic homemade apple pie recipe. It's made with tasty Granny Smith apples, and a hint of cinnamon & nutmeg (so good)!

  • 1 pie crust
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 7 Granny smith apples (peeled, cored & sliced)
  • 1/8 tsp lemon extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan and then stir in flour. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the temperature and let simmer to thicken. Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon extract.
  3. Place the bottom crust in your pie dish. Fill the crust with apples, mounding them slightly in the middle of the dish.
  4. Pour the mixture from the saucepan over the apples, distributing it as evenly as possible.
  5. Place a top crust on the pie. Place either a lattice crust or a full crust with air vent holes cut in it.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes in the oven. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 35 – 45 minutes, until apples are soft and crust is golden brown.
