Healthy Turkey Chili

This healthy turkey chili recipe is simple to make and plenty satisfying while still being healthy. There's a GOOD amount of seasoning in this recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 1 lbs lean ground turkey
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 10 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 16 oz can red kidney beans
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne (optional, to add spice)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, add the olive oil and chopped onion. Cook for 2 - 3 minutes.
  • Add the ground turkey to the skillet with the onion and cook for 5 - 7 minutes, until browned. Drain the grease from the skillet.
  • In a large pot, combine all ingredients, including the cooked onions and ground turkey. Stir well to mix.
  • Bring the pot to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium low and simmer uncovered for 20 - 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
