The Journey Up
Driving up the San Bernardino mountains for the first time was a nerve-wracking experience for me. Being afraid of heights, I didn’t know what to expect. But as we climbed higher and higher, the view became more and more beautiful.
As we drove towards Running Springs, about the halfway point to Lake Arrowhead, a sense of peace surprised me. The landscape transformed into a winter wonderland. With icicles hanging from the trees and white snow blanketing the sides of the road. It was like a completely different world from the bottom of the mountain.
Staying at a Lake Arrowhead Airbnb cabin is truly the perfect vacation since there are plenty of activities to offer year-round. Whether you enjoy summer activities such as boating and hiking or winter activities such as skiing and snowboarding. Or if you’re like me, a cabin enthusiast, just excited to explore the unique qualities every cabin has to offer.
Forest Moon Chalet: Inside the Lake Arrowhead Airbnb Cabin
As we arrived at the cabin, we were greeted with a long, personal driveway amid tall pine trees that led us to the charming dark blue cabin hidden within them. The peace of the surroundings was palpable, and the fresh air was invigorating.
The cabin itself was warm and inviting, with thoughtful touches throughout. We found a cute sign-in table upon entry that had a handy QR code providing easy access to the cabin rules. A key for the media room was placed on top of the guest sign-in book.
The host left a bottle of Pinot Grigio, two glasses, and a welcome card on the coffee table, and provided a log for the fireplace, board games, books, and a record player for our entertainment. This attention to detail made for a welcoming first impression, setting the tone for a great day ahead!
The cabin had fully stocked the kitchen with all the necessary supplies, including coffee and tea options, cookbooks, spices, and even new sponges and dishwashing sachets for our stay.
The dining room table was large and spacious, perfect for a larger family. There was even a baby highchair available. But what really stood out were the breathtaking views from the deck and every window of the cabin. There were towering trees as far as the eye could see.
The Bedrooms
This Lake Arrowhead Airbnb has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping up to seven people. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for children, with a bunk bed, games, and even a dartboard and TV.
Upstairs, there were two bedrooms, each with one large bed and one single bed. The bedrooms had a clean and fresh feel, and the views from the second story were simply stunning. The Forest Moon Chalet decorated both bathrooms in a modern and sleek style and had them both stocked with toiletries.
As we settled in, we lit the fireplace and put a record on. We quickly felt right at home as we sunk into the couch with our cups of English breakfast tea.
Exploring Lake Arrowhead
From The Forest Moon Chalet, there are countless things to do within a 15-minute drive. One great option is SkyPark in Santa’s Village, which offers bike trails, restaurants, camping, and holiday events!
Twin Peaks is also very close. You can check out Strawberry Peak Fire Lookout, find great hiking trails, or have a bite at the highly-rated restaurant, The Grill at Antlers Inn.
Since Lake Arrowhead Village is only a short 5-minute drive from the cabin, we decided to head down for lunch. The village is a cute center with shops and restaurants right on the lake. We chose to eat at Jettie’s Waterfront Kitchen. Jettie’s had a full bar and dining area that had water views from every spot in the restaurant.
The menu had a variety of options, and I opted for an ahi tuna salad, yum! My friend went for tacos with a side of truffle fries (all of which were delicious, by the way). We were also recommended to try The Lakefront Tap Room Bar and Kitchen in the village which also has a lakeside view. I’m excited to try it on our next trip!
After lunch, we strolled around the village, exploring the variety of local cafes, quaint shops, and high-end boutique stores like Chanel and The Chocolate Factory. Perfect for sweet lovers! I’d say the village has something to offer everyone! Additionally, the Lake Arrowhead Queen Boat Tour departs from the village, offering a great opportunity to see more of the picturesque lake.
Forest Moon Chalet’s Amenities
We wanted to head back to the cabin to explore more! We especially wanted to discover the media room the key opens to that we found upon arrival. After returning, we discovered that the media room could be accessed from the outside. So, we exited through the front door and hurried down the side of the cabin.
At the bottom of the stairs, we discovered an amazing outdoor sitting area, equipped with a swinging chair, fairy lights, and a jacuzzi! The view from the patio was outstanding. Although we weren’t in the season for sitting outdoors for too long, it’s always a great season for getting in a hot tub.
Imagine this: You’re covered in majestic pines, relaxing in the jacuzzi at the tail end of winter. Steam rising from the water while taking in the snowy view. Pure magic!
Now, for the media room, one of the highlights sets this Lake Arrowhead Airbnb apart! What makes this space truly unique is its Star Wars theme. As you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a life-sized stormtrooper, creating the atmosphere for an immersive experience.
The room is outfitted with three large and plush bean bag chairs, a high-quality TV projector, and a classic Pac-Man arcade game. There were even adjustable ambient lighting, and convenient remote controls for the TV, lighting, and gaming.
It’s the ideal setting for movie nights or gaming sessions with friends and family. And for those who love the Star Wars franchise, it’s simply out of this world!
