This is the easiest, tastiest recipe for slow cooker turkey breast! The turkey is covered in a delicious garlic herb butter spread and cooked to perfection in your slow cooker.

How to Cook Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Step 1: Make the Butter Spread

Combine the butter and seasonings in a small bowl.

Step 2: Spread the Butter on The Turkey

Lift up the skin of the turkey and spread half of the butter under the skin and half of the butter on top of the turkey. Pull up the skin as much as possible, going along the edges of the turkey and lifting the skin up.

Step 3: Prepare Your Slow Cooker

Spray your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Line the bottom with round slices of onion and thin slices of garlic. This provides a base for the turkey to sit on as well as some extra flavor.

Step 4: Add The Turkey

Set your turkey breast into the slow cooker.

Step 5: Cook The Turkey

Cook on high for 1 hour and then 7 hours on low, until temperature of the turkey reaches 165 degrees.

Step 6: Broil The Turkey

Preheat the oven to broil. Remove the turkey from the slow cooker and place in a baking pan. Broil the turkey for 4 – 5 minutes, until the skin of the turkey is browned. Keep a close eye on the turkey so that it doesn’t overcook and burn around the edges.

Garlic Herb Butter Spread for Slow Cooker Turkey

The key to this recipe is the butter spread! This butter spread is loaded with herbs that go perfectly with the flavor of the turkey.

The full recipe is below, but here’s what you’ll need for the butter spread:

  • 1 tsp sage
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic pepper
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted

How to Lift Turkey Skin to Add Butter Herb Spread

To add the butter herb spread to the turkey, gently lift up the skin of the turkey and spread half of it underneath. Lift the skin by starting at one end of the turkey and running your fingers between the skin and meat.

The skin won’t come completely off the turkey, but with a little gentle lifting you’ll be able to get some butter under it.
