About The Recipe: Red Wine Christmas Sangria

If you love sangria, you’ll love this recipe. This Christmas version of sangria keeps all the red wine and fruitiness, but adds in a hint of cranberries and cinnamon. YUM. The cranberries and cinnamon sticks are what give this recipe its distinctly ‘Christmas’ flavor.

And if you’re caving sangria this time of year, then check out our similar recipe: Apple Cider Sangria.

Red Wine Christmas Sangria Ingredients

The full recipe is at the bottom of this page, but here’s a quick overview of what you’ll need & how to make it:

  • 1 bottle red wine (750 ml)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1 cup cranberry juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 orange (sliced)
  • 1 cup cranberries
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

How to Make Red Wine Christmas Sangria

Making this sangria takes only 10 minutes and 3 steps! It’s easy: you’ll add your ingredients to a pitcher and let it chill for at least two hours.

Especially during the holiday craziness, this is a great drink recipe because you can make it ahead of time. Make this the morning or day before you plan to serve it, and store it in a pitcher in your fridge.

The longer you chill this recipe, the better the flavors will be able to soak into the wine.

How to Serve It

Serve it in wine glasses or a tall drinking glass. For added festiveness, add cranberries, a sprig of rosemary, or a cinnamon stick to each glass.

You can let your guests pour it from the pitcher themselves, or have glasses poured and ready to go.

This recipe is for 8 servings, so if you’re planning to make it for a large crowd it’s a good idea to double the recipe.

What Makes This ‘Christmas’ Sangria?

It has a little extra Christmas magic! Aka: cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and sliced orange.

This recipe still keeps the elements of traditional sangria: red wine, brandy, sugar and fruit. It just adds a Christmas twist!

And if you’ve never had sangria before, the best way to describe it is a fruity red wine cocktail that tastes fresh! It’s SO GOOD.
